The Bombay High Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of Rajasthan Royals' petition against the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to expel the team from the Indian Premier League (IPL) till October 29.
The six companies that own Kochi are at war over how much free equity should be given to the Gaikwads, who led the consortium when it paid 333 million dollars for the team. Satyajit Gaikwad, the group CEO, says he's working on making peace within the group. The real issue, though, is whether Gaikwad will control the franchise.
BCCI President Shashank Manohar says that the group has to prove its infighting has ended. When asked why two other teams that were dropped - Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab were not given a similar 30-day notice period - he said Kochi's case "is different".
Speaking to NDTV, Sunil Gavaskar has said that whether he heads cricket operations at Kochi depends largely on whether the group is able to settle its differences. He also denied that he has any stake in the company.
